R 75 000 towards the ESTABLISHMENT of a COMPUTER Centre

Iqraa Trust has provided funding towards the establishment of a computer centre for Strelitzia secondary school that was officially opened by Mr. Mahmoud Youssef Baker, the Chairman of Iqraa Trust, on Thursday, 26 November 2009.

Strelitizia Secondary School is located in the Durban South Basin. The majority of its disadvantaged learners reside in the townships of Lotus Park, Orient Hill, Westmount, Umlazi and the informal settlement of Malakazi.

The computer centre will enable learners to gain an understanding of Information Technology, using the internet and networking. Most importantly it will prepare them and sustain their interest in I.T as they progress to higher levels of education. The surrounding community will also have access to the computer centre and this will also empower them with computer skills.
